About Meat Church

Meat Church traces Matt Pittman's barbecue curiosity to Central Texas, where one taste of salt-and-pepper brisket revealed how much could be achieved with disciplined simplicity and a well-managed fire.

Matt Pittman's foundation came from Grandma June and the meals they prepared together in Alabama. What began around ordinary backyard fires developed into organized barbecue competitions and an appearance on BBQ Pitmasters. That progression also led to Meat Church Holy Cow, which was Matt Pittman's first rub.

Meat Church treats better barbecue as something cooks can learn and share. To work through the practical details of a new technique, open the Learn guidesand take the method back to the pit. Meat Church wants education and seasoning to make better barbecue feel more approachable.

At home in Texas, Matt Pittman shares life with his wife Tracie and their four kids, often with another fire or meal underway.
